The biopsychosocial protection of the family, which is an important organization of society, is a prerequisite for a healthy and prosperous society. The 1982 Constitution of the Republic of Türkiye emphasises that the family constitutes the foundation of Turkish society and is based on equality between spouses. The Twelfth Development Plan is based on the issue of ‘strengthening the family organization in order to protect the family, which is the carrier of national and moral values and which is established by the bond of marriage between men and women, from all kinds of harmful tendencies, to raise healthy generations, to maintain a dynamic population structure and development in a stable manner’. In this context, it is aimed to increase the quality, prevalence and impact of family-oriented studies and family-oriented services involving all stakeholders.

In order to achieve the targets, set out in the Twelfth Development Plan and Action Plan, it is important to address the impact of social and economic inequalities on families and to develop family policies consisting of services such as health, employment, income distribution, women, children, foster family programmes and housing policies to protect the family. In line with the Twelfth Development Plan, the year 2025 was declared as the ‘Year of the Family’ by our President Recep Tayyip ERDOĞAN in order to accelerate the efforts to protect and strengthen the family, to emphasise the importance of the family organization, to protect family unity and solidarity, and to support the family against existing risks.

Within the scope of ‘2025 Year of the Family’, it is planned to hold an ‘International Family Studies Congress’ between 23-25 October 2025 hosted by Kırıkkale University. The primary goal of this event is to provide a multidisciplinary international forum for academicians and graduate students engaged in family studies to exchange knowledge and experiences through the presentation of their scientific studies and research, as well as to suggest solutions to advance the field.

Within the scope of the Congress, paper presentations in the main areas related to the family will be held face-to-face, online and by video recording. After the papers submitted to the Congress are evaluated by the Scientific Committee, the accepted full papers will be evaluated by the Scientific Board as articles or book chapters after the congress.
